I went to bed early last night in order to get some rest so I could wake up early this morning, well early for me. It was one cup of coffee, really not enough, then out to the Garaggio. I finished the strake to longeron intersections and spent quite a bit of time with the spot putty,Continue reading “Go-on-git! Ugly Betty is no longer welcome here.”

Snooze
I hit snooze, oh about 6 or 8 times this morning. I just did not want to get out of bed. I’m not a morning person by any stretch of the imagination, but I needed to get just a little bit more done before I went back to work. So the plan was to sandContinue reading “Snooze”
Building Season is Here
In the homebuilt airplane world, there are two seasons of the year, flying season and building season. I suppose that stems from the fact that there are more nice flying-weather days in summer than winter. Plus it really isn’t that much fun pulling your airplane out of the hanger onto an ice covered ramp inContinue reading “Building Season is Here”
Wake Up Call
Those of you who know me know that I am not really a morning person. The different time zones I work in, plus the fact that I rarely can go to bed before midnight are not conducive to early mornings. The hustle and bustle of this week also compounded the desire to sleep in. IContinue reading “Wake Up Call”
Learning has occurred
I learned from last nights mistakes and didn’t push it today. I had time constraints, so I decided I wasn’t going to push an end of day priming session, and either screw it up or be late. Good news is, Jon and Greg were able to come over to help today, so we still got aContinue reading “Learning has occurred”
Sand off, prime on
Had to leave for work today, so only got a few hours in the shop. I sanded off the spot putty from yesterday. Then sanded the left wing out. Washed, dried, and put another coat, two passes, of primer on. I wanted to do three, but ran out of time. More next week.
A Bite of the Elephant…. Ear
Today’s workshop session was cut short. Kevin and I had plans to go to the, “Great Minnesota Get Together,” aka the Minnesota State Fair. Well known for its food selection, you can pretty much get anything you want to eat. Most novelty foods come on a stick. One of the foods there is the Elephant Ear.Continue reading “A Bite of the Elephant…. Ear”
The Gang’s all here
Not only has it been a while since I have been in the workshop, but my regular helpers have been missing in action for a while too. Both due to their own reasons. But today, both Jon and Greg were able to be in the Garaggio with me. It really jumpstarted the return to progressContinue reading “The Gang’s all here”
After Oshkosh, a nibble on the Elephant
It has been almost a month since I have posted on the Garaggio. Thats mostly because it has been a month since I have been able to spend any time in the workshop. The AirVenture Cup and Oshkosh both suck up a lot of time. I was lucky to get time off work for bothContinue reading “After Oshkosh, a nibble on the Elephant”
Wishin’ and Hopin’ and Tiggin’ and Stipplin’
Things are winding down here in the Garaggio for a while. I am about ready to start into an intense training program for a new company and new aircraft for work. I will be spending a lot of time away from home, studying, and learning which will severely limit my hobby time. While I’m hopin’Continue reading “Wishin’ and Hopin’ and Tiggin’ and Stipplin’”
