Go-on-git! Ugly Betty is no longer welcome here.

I went to bed early last night in order to get some rest so I could wake up early this morning, well early for me. It was one cup of coffee, really not enough, then out to the Garaggio. I finished the strake to longeron intersections and spent quite a bit of time with the spot putty,Continue reading “Go-on-git! Ugly Betty is no longer welcome here.”

Third times the charm for N1614J

There are some things I haven’t blogged about that I need to fill people in on. I didn’t write about them mostly because they weren’t done in the Garaggio and I didn’t really think too much about documenting them at the time, or they were part of a larger story I figured could be toldContinue reading “Third times the charm for N1614J”

Wake Up Call

Those of you who know me know that I am not really a morning person. The different time zones I work in, plus the fact that I rarely can go to bed before midnight are not conducive to early mornings. The hustle and bustle of this week also compounded the desire to sleep in.  IContinue reading “Wake Up Call”

Sand off, prime on

One of the foods there is the Elephant Ear.Continue reading “A Bite of the Elephant…. Ear”

Canardgate Day 63

My trip today starts at 2300 in Phoenix, so that gave me some time in the morning to work on the airplane. Yea, more sanding on the canard. I spent a lot of time on the elevator slot today which is where the contour need the most work. The elevator slot involves lots of detailContinue reading “Canardgate Day 63”

After Oshkosh, a nibble on the Elephant

It has been almost a month since I have posted on the Garaggio. Thats mostly because it has been a month since I have been able to spend any time in the workshop. The AirVenture Cup and Oshkosh both suck up a lot of time. I was lucky to get time off work for bothContinue reading “After Oshkosh, a nibble on the Elephant”

Lets get ready to miiiiiiiiiiiiicro

Today was a bunch of little things to get ready for applying micro to the top of the left wing and strake. Jon and Greg were here, and we got a lot done. The first thing to do was finish shortening the dip stick and reinstall it. We then were able to verify the locationContinue reading “Lets get ready to miiiiiiiiiiiiicro”
