Today was another good day in the Garaggio. The second biggest excitement (The first was that Greg and I got the baffles done, and that was in the previous post) was that Nate and I got the rudders actuated. We still need to get the rudder cables run up to the pedals in the front.Continue reading “All flight controls flapping in the breeze”

Odds and ends, tune in tomorrow
Today was a half day in the shop. So I had a long list of odds and ends I wanted to get done. In normal fashion I only got a few of them done. Started by epoxy wiping the top of the main gear legs. In between coats of epoxy wipe, I let it tackContinue reading “Odds and ends, tune in tomorrow”
Greg and I
I had a very welcome appearance from Greg today. He has been busy with trips and such that has kept him from the Garaggio when I have been around, and I have been working when he has been around. It was nice to have someone in the shop today, not only for the increased productivity,Continue reading “Greg and I”
Are we there yet?
When I flew Beech 1900D’s for Skyway Airlines out of Milwaukee, we had a captain that was board by the time we had the gear in the wells. Probably because he had about 10,000 hours flying the ‘Beech Airliner’ around Wisconsin and da U. P. of Michigan. He had literally been there and done thatContinue reading “Are we there yet?”
Learning has occurred
I learned from last nights mistakes and didn’t push it today. I had time constraints, so I decided I wasn’t going to push an end of day priming session, and either screw it up or be late. Good news is, Jon and Greg were able to come over to help today, so we still got aContinue reading “Learning has occurred”
A Bite of the Elephant…. Ear
Today’s workshop session was cut short. Kevin and I had plans to go to the, “Great Minnesota Get Together,” aka the Minnesota State Fair. Well known for its food selection, you can pretty much get anything you want to eat. Most novelty foods come on a stick. One of the foods there is the Elephant Ear.Continue reading “A Bite of the Elephant…. Ear”
Operation Prime Part 6
Well, we finally did it we got the first coat of primer on the wings. But before we get to that in the post, we have to talk about this morning. Jon came over to work on the airplane today so we divided and conquered. I fit the rudders to the winglets and validated thatContinue reading “Operation Prime Part 6”
Two for the price of One
I didn’t get a chance to do a blog post yesterday due to social obligations. Rest assured that I did get to work on the Ez, even if it was only about 4 hours. I spent most of that time prepping the winglets and rudders for their spar layups. I was hoping to get the layupsContinue reading “Two for the price of One”
Operation Prime: Part 5
I have no clue what happened, but I had five things on my list to work on today, and I worked on all five. I finished four of them. Maybe I worked more efficiently, maybe I had less distractions, maybe I was more realistic with planning my day, or maybe all of the above. ButContinue reading “Operation Prime: Part 5”
Swinging Ri… Rudders
Today was one of those days when the weather was so nice outside that time just flew by with the doors on the Garaggio open. In fact it flew by so quickly that I only completed a little over half of what I set out to do today. No worries as everything I got done todayContinue reading “Swinging Ri… Rudders”
